Rescue operation domains
General mountain rescue
Is the rescue operation domain where environment is that of the
mountain in general. Rescuing includes search, first aid and evacuation of
endangered or injured people. Typical examples of this domain are
accidents while trekking, canyoning or Nordic skiing. Rescuers, consisting
the rescue team, must be experienced mountaineers.
Rescuing at the ski center
Is the domain that is characterized by search for lost skiers, first
aid and transport assistance at the well-known skiing center. Other, more
challenging operation that can emerge at the skiing site is the need for
evacuating people from cabled chairs. In order to fulfill these tasks
rescuers must be experienced skiers.
High mountain and rock rescue
Is the domain that includes technically difficult environment of rock,
snow and ice. There are special strategies developed for search, approach,
help and evacuation of people in need. Rescue team is consisted of
experienced climbers, alpinists and best rescuers. Rescue operations in
this domain are always accomplished with resources of both rescue squad
and climbing departments of the mountaineering association.
Cave rescue
Is the domain of natural and artificial caves and pits. This domain is
probably the most demanding one. The ultimate rescue challenge is the need
for cave-diving. Rescue team in this segment is always consisted of
experienced speleologists, scuba divers with cave experience and specially
trained rescuers. Rescue operations are carried out by maximum engagement
of rescue squad, speleological department and scuba diving clubs (if applicable).
Urban rescue
Is domain of rescue operation that is qualified by
either some natural calamity or high building disasters. Constant
attributes of rescue operation in this domain are: usage of rope rescue
techniques, rather large number of endangered or injured people and full
engagement of all potentials including civil and military services and
specialized mountaineering departments.
